The app installer is about 150MB. On first launch, Evoglyph downloads the transcription model (~0.6GB) and cleanup model (~1.5GB) in the background. After that, every dictation runs locally.

Any Mac app. Evoglyph uses three injection methods: Accessibility API splice for native apps, keystroke injection for terminals, and pasteboard for browsers and Electron apps. We’ve verified Evoglyph in iTerm2, Obsidian, Chrome, Firefox, Cursor, VS Code, Slack, Linear, Notion, and all standard Apple apps. If an app accepts keyboard input, Evoglyph works in it.

Parakeet TDT on the Apple Neural Engine matches cloud-grade quality on developer dictation: 2.41% WER on LibriSpeech test-clean on our harness. A short dictation lands in about 600ms end-to-end with the default cleanup pass, about 300ms without it (see the benchmark). We ship parakeet-tdt-v2 by default.

Your audio and transcribed text never leave your device. The network calls Evoglyph makes are: model downloads (Hugging Face, first launch only), license validation (evoglyph.com), the free trial’s start/usage sync during the trial (evoglyph.com — a device hash and word count, never dictation content), Sparkle update checks (evoglyph.com), and opt-in crash and error reports (Evoglyph’s own servers; no third-party telemetry vendor). Yes. After the one-time model download, every dictation runs fully offline. The only other online dependencies are periodic license re-validation and opt-in crash reports. See the full breakdown.

We recommend against it. Evoglyph skips native macOS secure fields: when the focused element is a native password box, it refuses the dictation and types nothing. But in web browsers and some apps, Evoglyph can’t always detect a password field; treat browser password fields as unprotected. Dictation also runs through speech recognition and an AI cleanup pass, both non-deterministic, so the inserted text may not exactly match what you said. Type passwords and other secrets manually.
